It sat pretty much unused until it was torn down for thunder road. For just under 20 years now, i have been intrigued by a former attraction at carowinds. With 57 thrill rides, family rides and roller coasters, the fun never ends!

These trains actually originated in chicago, as they were designed for the jetstream coaster (another ptc wooden coaster) at riverview park. The mcclelland house was original to the carowinds property.

None of these rides exist today at carowinds, the sternwheeler being the last of this bunch removed in 2003. With 57 thrill rides, family rides and roller coasters, the fun never ends!

Although the park had lost the c & c rr by then, it still had that good feeling to it. Pipeline peak was the last new addition at waterworks before the next rebranding of carowinds’ water park, boomerang bay.

I Remember When Carowinds First Passed The 1 Million Mark.

During the early years of carowinds, the park celebrated the halloween season with various fall festivals and other celebrations. The first expansion increased the seating capacity to 8,200, then to 9,000 seats and the final and current capacity seats just over 13,000 as seen in the current photo below.
